RE/MAX World Long
-Drive Championship

I just returned from the 2009
Re-Max World Longdrive Championships in Mesquite Nevada, and a wild time was had by all due to mother natures first winter storm of the season for that area.
Super senior division got the first volley on Sunday Oct. 25th with 40 mph head winds and difficulty keeping the ball on a tee. Monday morning for the senior division was also blustery but Tom Celone using my newly acquired Mercury 4x flex shaft advanced to the finals scheduled for Friday.
Tuesday was a bust as after an hour of open division competition, head winds of 40- 60 mph and wind chill of 40* prompted the LDA to cancel the play for the day. Wednesday morning overcast, 40* tempertures, but only 20 mph winds allowed resumption of play for the Tuesday guys. The players scheduled for Wednesday now had to be combined with the Thursday group making for a long day for the spectators, however the weather finally was half pleasant.
Mark Christiansen, one of the 12 competitors representing my team, had a spectacular day and advanced to the Friday finals in the open division using my Mercury Savage 5* head. Mark finished 11th in the world and not only took home a nice check, but earned an exemption into the 2010 competition which saves qualifying next year and money. Tom Celone finished 7th in seniors and was nicely rewarded also.
The Re-Max Worlds will be televised on ESPN in December.
Many thanks to all my team members for their hard work and dedication to the sport and 2010 should be fun with a few surprises thrown in.
